Amiteque Electronics is a young Canadian company, but its engineering roots go back decades.
Founder and chief designer Oleg Ermakov began developing electronic musical equipment in the late 1980s, combining electronics engineering with a background in music.
One of his first designs was the MC-1012 MIDI synchronizer, which became widely used in hundreds of music studios. Advanced for its time, it supported MIDI Song Position Pointer, allowing playback from any point on tape while remaining highly tolerant of tape-speed variations.
A few years later came the DS-16, a compact true-stereo digital effects processor featuring 24-bit processing and a 48 kHz sampling rate. The DS-16 became a popular studio device and was remarkably compact for its time, at approximately half the size of an Alesis NanoVerb.
The DS-16 was followed by the D-64 studio digital-to-analog converter and several other audio and music electronics designs. These products were developed and manufactured under the Alternative Musical Technologies name.
His engineering career later took him to Southeast Asia, where he spent many years developing professional audio and musical electronic products.
